Wei-Yi was mentored by the late Kristin herself, and she was also taught by Andrea Haring during her years at Columbia University. She followed Kristin to teach 3 workshops in Taiwan(2015, 2019) and Shanghai(2016) as her translator and the assistant teacher. Wei-Yi translated the book <Freeing the Natural Voice> into Traditional Chinese Mandarin ( published in 2022). After 11 years of NYC life, Wei-Yi moved back to Taiwan, her mother land, in 2021. She’s now the head of the WYL Acting Studio in Taipei, holds workshops for professional actors and singers, She does private coach work on acting and voice for known actors in the Taiwan film/TV industry. She’s also an intimacy coordinator and is well known among the industry for her IC work.
As for her acting achievement, Wei-Yi was awarded Best Acting in Asian Film Festival in Dallas, and LA movie awards (2015), and was also nominated for Best Actress at NYC Planet Connection Theatre Festival in 2017. Wei-Yi is the first Taiwanese actress invited to the Directors' Lab at Sundance institute (2015), also the first Taiwanese actress as the lead in an off-Broadway production (2017, Urban Stages). She’s a proud member of SAG/AFTRA, AEA.
Wei-Yi believes that her years of experience in acting helps tremendously in her work of teaching and sharing Linklater voice. She hopes to apply the technique to real productions in Taiwan and produce great work that shines from actors body, voice, and mind.
