Deborah (Deb) is a voice, singing and dialect coach. She joined the BA Acting voice team at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2019. Prior to that she was on the faculty for six years at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (RCSSD) as Lecturer in Voice on the MA/MFA Voice Studies and BA Acting (Collaborative and Devised Theatre) programmes. She also has a private voice and singing coaching practice and coaches for theatre and film. Recent credits include Kraven the Hunter (Sony Pictures); Northanger Abbey and Yellowman at the Orange Tree Theatre, Richmond and Henry V at the Donmar Warehouse. She trained and worked as an actor and singer, holds a music degree (Goldsmith’s College, London) and an MA in Voice Studies (RCSSD). Her ability to integrate both voice and singing informs her ongoing research into the integral relationship between the two. Linklater voice work has further enriched this process and underpins all aspects of Deb’s coaching. She has developed a singing practice integrated with Linklater voice work and Michael Chekhov principles and was invited by Kristin to co-teach a singing workshop with her. In 2022 the first ‘Freeing the Natural Singing Voice’ workshop took place at KLVC led by Deb and fellow DLT Michael Petermann. She regularly facilitates workshops for the Chekhov Collective in London. Deb is a composer with a particular interest in writing music for the stage. She’s a member of Equity, British Voice Association and VASTA.
